1. About Signia and this agreement
Signia is a Filipino Sign Language (FSL) learning platform developed as a student thesis project in the Philippines. In these terms, “Signia,” “we,” and “our” refer to the student project team operating this platform. You can contact the team at signiafsl@gmail.com.
These terms apply to your use of Signia, including lessons, quizzes, camera practice, progress tracking, achievements, hearts, and interactive stories. When you select the agreement checkbox and create an account, you agree to these terms. Google sign-in verifies your identity; it does not replace your agreement with Signia. If you do not agree, do not complete account registration.
2. Your account and eligibility
Provide accurate account information, use an email or Google account you are authorized to use, and keep your sign-in credentials private. Tell us promptly if you suspect someone else has accessed your account. Do not impersonate another person, share accounts to evade restrictions, or access another user’s account.
You must have legal capacity to enter this agreement. If you are under 18, a parent or legal guardian must review and authorize your use and any purchases. Contact the project team before participating in a thesis study involving minors; ordinary signup does not establish guardian permission or research consent.
3. Educational purpose and recognition limits
Signia supports FSL learning and practice. Lessons and automated predictions may be incomplete or inaccurate, and signs may vary by context and community. A score, prediction, or completed lesson is not a certification of language proficiency.
Camera recognition depends on lighting, camera quality, hand visibility, device performance, and model limitations. Do not rely on Signia as the sole interpreter for emergencies or medical, legal, or other consequential communications. Seek an appropriately qualified interpreter when accuracy is essential.
4. Camera use and thesis participation
Camera practice requires browser permission. While practice is active, images are sent to the recognition service to produce feedback; review the Privacy Notice before starting. Keep other people and private information out of the frame. You can stop the camera or revoke permission in your browser; camera exercises will then be unavailable.
Agreeing to these terms does not enroll you in research or authorize publication of your identity, recordings, or identifiable results. Any separate thesis study must explain its purpose, data use, participation requirements, and withdrawal process through its own participant information and consent process.
5. Fair and acceptable use
Use Signia respectfully and lawfully. Do not harass others, submit unlawful content, interfere with the service, distribute malware, attempt unauthorized access, or exploit errors to manipulate scores, hearts, purchases, or story access. Do not automate abuse or bypass payment and access controls.
Report defects or security concerns privately to the project team. Do not include passwords, verification codes, payment credentials, or unnecessary sensitive information in support messages.
6. Learning materials and ownership
You may access Signia’s materials for personal learning and authorized educational use. The platform’s software, artwork, and lesson materials remain subject to their owners’ rights. Third-party materials, including credited FSL datasets, retain their original licenses and attribution requirements.
Do not sell, republish, or redistribute protected materials without permission or an applicable legal exception. You retain rights in material you submit. You permit us to process submissions only as needed to provide the requested feature or support, as explained in the Privacy Notice.
7. Hearts, paid stories, and payments
The store or checkout shows the item, price, and currency before payment. Hearts are virtual learning items, and paid story purchases provide the access described at checkout. They are not money, investments, or transferable financial assets. Do not purchase on the assumption that a thesis prototype will operate indefinitely.
Payments are handled through PayMongo and the payment method you select. A pending or failed checkout does not establish payment or entitlement. Contact support with your order reference if payment is confirmed but access or items are missing. Never send full card details, wallet credentials, or payment codes to Signia support.
8. Refunds and purchase problems
The current in-app policy permits refund requests through Profile → Purchase History within 7 days of payment. Requests are reviewed against payment records and item use. Purchased hearts must remain unused; confirmed duplicate charges or delivery failures qualify for full refunds under that policy. Accidental-purchase refunds currently carry the disclosed 20% processing deduction where lawful.
For inaccessible paid chapters, contact support for restored access or refund review. Refunded chapters lose access, and refunded items are removed. Refund completion depends on the payment provider and original payment method. If the in-app request window has closed or a request cannot be submitted, contact signiafsl@gmail.com.
These procedures and deductions do not exclude remedies or consumer rights that Philippine law makes mandatory. A technical eligibility check does not decide your legal rights.
9. Availability, changes, and account restrictions
As a student thesis project, Signia may experience downtime, errors, maintenance, or changes to lessons and features. We do not promise continuous availability, particular learning results, or permanent operation. Material changes affecting paid access should be communicated with a way to contact the team about unresolved purchases.
We may restrict accounts for misuse, security concerns, or violations of these terms. Contact support to ask for a review. You may stop using Signia at any time and request account closure through support. Account closure does not eliminate unresolved payment issues or legally required records.
10. Responsibility and your legal rights
Use reasonable care when using the platform and check important information independently. To the extent permitted by law, we do not guarantee that the prototype or its automated results will be error-free. Nothing in these terms excludes responsibility or limits a remedy where doing so would be unlawful, including applicable consumer and privacy protections.
11. Updates to these terms
We identify each published version by its date. The version you explicitly accept is recorded with your account and the time of acceptance. Material changes will be communicated before they take effect, with renewed acceptance requested where required. Merely editing this page does not change the acceptance record for an earlier version.
12. Philippine law and contacting the team
These terms are governed by Philippine law, subject to any mandatory protections that apply to you. Please first contact signiafsl@gmail.com about concerns so the team can try to resolve them. This does not remove your right to approach a competent regulator, court, or other lawful dispute-resolution body.
